How to Create “Evergreen” Content For Your Ag Business
Ever get tired of the never-ending cycle of creating social media content for your business? It’s time-consuming and at times just doesn’t get done because other aspects of your business take priority. Well, there is a type of content you can create that continues to work for your business for years to come.
That is what I like to call, Evergreen Content.
Evergreen content is any content that you can create once that continues to be seen by your potential customers for years without you having to repost it on your social media. There are 3 types of evergreen content you can create for your Ag Business.
1. Blog
The first type of evergreen content is blog posts. When you first write a blog post often it’s not seen by very many people until you go share it on social media or with your email list.
However, over time it will begin to rank on Google based on the keywords you use in it. To the point where a blog post you wrote 2 years ago can rank very high and become a significant source of traffic to your website.
When it comes to blogging here’s a couple of tips for success:
Blog consistently. Each blog you put out has a chance of ranking and driving significant amounts of traffic to your website down the road.
SEO optimize your blog. Do your research before writing your blog. Make sure you’re using appropriate keywords and phrases your audience would be searching for. This will help you show up in the rankings.
2. YouTube
The second type of evergreen content is YouTube. Similar to blogging YouTube ranks videos not chronologically but rather by keywords, and views. This means over time a single YouTube video could continue to rank at the top getting more and more views each day.
In order to make sure your YouTube videos are ranking use keywords in the title and description as well as hashtags to help your video come up for specific searches. This is a form of content that can keep benefiting your business for years to come.
3. Podcast
The third type of evergreen content is a Podcast. Again podcasts are often discovered based on search. When someone is looking for podcasts about a specific topic yours has the opportunity to popup. Giving you the opportunity to bring them into your audience and eventually turn them into a customer.
With podcasts keep an eye on what is ranking, what keywords are being used, and utilize those in order to help your episode come up when potential listeners are searching for solutions.
So there you have it, the 3 types of evergreen content you can use that will continue working for your business for years. I highly recommend starting with one of these 3 types of evergreen content. Create it consistently, get into a good rhythm, and use your social media channels to promote it.
Another way to get the most out of your evergreen content is to use it to create more content. For example, I will take a blog, and do a live video talking about the same topic. Then I will pull a quote or two from it and use that in a story. I will post it as an article on my LinkedIn profile. And send an email to my list based on that same blog as well.
It takes one piece of content and turns it into several without having to come up with a brand new topic for each.
